What is fair pricing for an HST 4wd '86 JD 755 with a front end loader ("70"), belly mower and turf tires with 1000 hrs? It runs good and appears that it has spent most of its life outdoors here in Florida. A John Deere dealer has the tractor for sale at $8000 and I'm considering an offer of $7500. What, besides obvious fluid leaks, are some mechanical defects should I be on the lookout for? I'll be using this unit on a four acre area - one acre cleared and three wooded to be thinned out - and set up for a couple of horses for the wife and myself. I'm a neophyte at this compact utility tractor stuff and could use some sound practical advice from you seasoned JD owners.

I recently paid $7500 for a 89 two wheel drive, hst JD 755 w/ 1600 hours. It was a great little tractor, tuff as nails and dependable. It had a belly mower which soon bit the dust though. I just traded for a Kubota L3010
4WD, 32 HP. Either is a great machine, right now Kubota is offering very good rates ( 3.99 ), I would go with the L3010 if you can swing 13500 or so, but the JD will serve you well also. ....

This spring I purchased a 98 755, 600 hrs, 70 loader, 4wd, turf tires, rear finish mower and well-used tiller, for $9500. I think that was a little on the cheap side. $7500 might be a fair price for yours.
